Ruby

Traces of chromium give this red variety it’s rich colour. Long valued by people of many cultures, in ancient Sanskrit, Ruby was known as the ‘King Of Stones’.  Rubies can command the highest per carat price of any coloured stone. This makes Ruby one of the most important gems in the coloured stone market. Fine Ruby glows with intense red in sunlight thanks to red florescence, which intensifies its red colour. Ruby is the birthstone for July, and the gem for the 15th and 40th Wedding Anniversaries.
